Weight loss – Define a starting point

So to start my little weight lost journey, I’d like to take a look at the current state of my body at the moment and set some goals I want to reach. For that reason I made a screenshot, last time I stepped on the scale.

Current weight and body fat percentage

So as you can see on the 8th of August my weight was at 119,2 kg with a body fat percentage of 33.7 which increased quite a bit compared to last time in went on the scale. Those two values are the ones I want to focus on. Long term, I like to reach the following goals:

  • Body weight of under 90 kg
  • Body fat percentage of under 20 %

Reach this goal will be hard so that I don’t wont to set a deadline for this for now. Instead, in my opinion, it’s better to set a reachable short term goal to follow. Also, it seems to be difficult to predict how much body fat I can lose in a certain amount of time, so I focus on body weight here in the first place:

  • Goal: Until the end of September, I want my body weight to be under 115 Kilo to be healthier and get closer to my overall goal of reaching under 90 kg!

I think if I put it that way, it even fulfills the SMART formula. One and a half month to lose 4,2 kg should be more than enough time. I like to start with an easy goal as I know due to my sleep apnea, it can be really hard.

In my next post, I’m going to talk more about goals. But this time it will be more about fitness / sport goals. Reaching a certain amount of cycling kilometers a week or lift a certain weight. Weight shouldn’t be the only thing I care about.
